How to Play

Rise to Riches plays with two or more people, and gets exponentially more enjoyable as more people join, up to a maximum of six per deck (recommended Age 10+), so grab your friends, and let's learn how to play!

Step 1: Shuffle the Deck and Deal the Cards

Make sure that the deck is thoroughly shuffled before playing. Our cards are TOUGH, so don't be afraid to crease or tear them! Then, once the deck is shuffled, deal five cards to each player, going in a clockwise manner, i.e. passing a card to the player on your left, then their left, etc. Once everyone has their cards, choose a player to start the game, and their turn will begin.

Step 2: Draw Phase

When a player begins their turn, they will start by drawing two cards from the deck before they can play any cards. If the player draws a Trap Card, indicated by the red "Hazardous Contents" stamp on the back on the card, they must immediately perform any instructions that the card gives, such as discarding a Treasure from your Hand, or ending your turn. If your turn ends, do not draw any more cards, and the person to your left begins their turn.

Step 3: Play Phase

Now that you've drawn your cards, it's time to begin strategizing! During your turn, you can play up to two cards from your Hand, and react to any Actions taken against you, so long as you have the appropriate card. In your Hand, you may encounter three types of cards: Artifacts, Actions, and Reactions.

Artifacts are what you play with to win! If you have an Artifact Card in your Hand, you can choose to play it by adding it to your Collection. The Collection allows you to group like Artifacts, with the goal to collect three sets of three Artifacts, but exposes them to potential thieves. A Wildcard Artifact can be used in lieu of any other type of Artifact, but once placed in your Collection as one of the other Artifact substitutes, it cannot be changed unless stolen or discarded from your Collection. If you manage to have three sets of three Artifacts in your collection, you win!

Action Cards, as the name suggests, allow you to perform actions against other players or in relation to the Draw Deck. This may include such things as drawing two more cards, stealing another player's Artifacts from their Hand, or even sending their entire Collection to the Discard Pile.

Reaction Cards may be used at any time, countering any Action Card played against you, and reflecting the Action against whoever played it. For example, if another player attempted to steal an Artifact from your Collection and you choose to play a Reaction Card, the player could not steal your Artifact, and instead, you now get to take one of theirs. But be careful, as there are multiple Reactions in circulation, and one reaction card can be played against another, reflecting the reflection
